MDC-Sculpt®️ Lipo Technique
MDC-Sculpt®️ Lipo Technique is a proprietary surgical approach developed by Dr Ivan Puah. This multi-dimensional fat removal and body contouring method works on each individual's unique body shape, skin laxity, fat anatomy and distribution. It permanently removes fat, shapes the body and enhances skin tightening.
Laserlipolysis (Laser Liposuction)
Laserlipolysis (Laser Liposuction) utilises laser energy to break down fat into liquefied form, which is then removed through suction. The laser energy also stimulates collagen production via tissue coagulation and helps to break the septa bands that cause fat accumulation and skin dimpling. An example of Laserlipolysis (Laser Liposuction) is SmartLipo.
UAL (Vaser liposuction)
In UAL, ultrasonic energy is delivered internally and directly to the targeted fat tissues to emulsify them into liquid form for suction. *VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) liposuction is an example of UAL.
4D Liposuction (Hi-Definition Lipo)
4D Liposuction (Hi-Definition Lipo) is more complex, as it requires a skilled doctor with an eye for aesthetics. It removes superficial and deep fat surrounding muscle groups and enhances the visibility of underlying muscle tone.

Dr Charles Dujarier, French surgeon, introduced the concept of body contouring & fat removal but was unsuccessful
1974
Fischer's technique
Dr Arpad and Giorgio Fischer working in Rome, Italy, developed the blunt tunnelling technique from which modern liposuction evolved.
1977
Illouz Method
French surgeons, Dr Yves-Gerard Illouz and Dr Pierre Fournier, modified and popularised the blunt technique. A modified equipment and extended technique was developed by Dr Illouz for liposuction.
1987
Tumescent Lipo
Dr Jeffrey Klein, American dermatologist, invented the tumescent technique whereby liposuction can be performed under local anaesthesia.
1992
UAL & Laserlipolysis
Ultrasonic-assisted liposuction and laserlipolysis were introduced as liposuction became more in demand for those who want to get rid of fat accumulation.
2000s
Vaser Lipo
Dr Alfredo Hoyos invented *VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) liposuction. Dr Ivan Puah is one of the 3 doctors to introduce it in Singapore in 2008.

Dr Ivan Puah has close to two decades of liposuction and body contouring experience. He is certified to perform laserlipolysis (laser liposuction), Vaser liposuction and Hi-Definition liposuction having completed his liposuction and body sculpting training in the United States, Italy and Argentina. His passion for body contouring further drives Dr Ivan Puah to pursue further surgical trainings in gynecomastia surgery in the United States.
He developed two proprietary surgical techniques: 360° GTD® for gynecomastia surgery and MDC-Sculpt®️ Lipo Technique for liposuction.
Dr Puah is known to patients as a pragmatic gentleman - managing realistic expectations, not overpromising and under-delivering results.

Can your belly get big again after liposuction?
Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that targets and removes subcutaneous fat (pinchable fat). It does not treat visceral fat. If you do not have an active lifestyle, such as exercise and maintaining a healthy weight, there is always a probability of fat gain, which will affect the visceral fat mass and your post-lipo results.
Does liposuction leave loose skin?
Dr Ivan Puah's MDC-Sculpt®️ Lipo technique is a multi-dimensional contouring approach customised to work on each individual's unique body shape, fat anatomy, fat distribution and encourages skin tightening.
How long will liposuction result last?
Liposuction involves the removal of unwanted fat via suction and correcting disproportionate body shape. Fat is permanently removed from the treated area and is long-lasting if the patient maintains a healthy diet and active lifestyle. It is important to note that a considerable amount of weight gain post-liposuction may alter the results.
How much fat does lipo remove?
The amount of fat that can be removed will depend on the patient's clinical condition and the body regions treated. In Singapore, liposuction is strictly regulated by the Ministry of Health Singapore and the amount of aspirated fat is limited to 2 litres per session, amongst other patient criteria.
Is liposuction suitable for weight loss?
No, liposuction is not a tool or method for treating weight loss. It is a surgical procedure to reduce and remove unwanted and stubborn fat that does not respond to diet, exercise or other means. If your objective is to lose weight, you may consider Amaris B. weight loss and management programme.
Can I use Medisave or insurance for liposuction?
Liposuction is an elective cosmetic surgery and is therefore not covered by Medisave or insurance.
How much does lipo cost in Singapore?
Liposuction costs in Singapore vary depending on the liposuction doctor's experience, the complexity of the surgery, body regions, facility costs, anaesthetist fees, consumables, medications, surgical instruments, aftercare and follow-up treatments, etc.
I have had liposuction done before; can I do it again?
Yes, certainly. Some patients have had liposuction done with satisfactory results. However, they may have gained massive weight or cannot maintain their post-liposuction results due to ageing or certain medical conditions. Secondary liposuction is an option to correct and improve the treated area.
